best five bucks spent

It was the best five bucks I've spent in a long time. A pittance of a cover charge, really, for an amazing show by Horse Feathers and openers (Betty & the Boy). Sam Bond's Garage ranks high on my list of enjoyable eugene venues. Cozy, wood benches, beers served in mason jars. And the crowd. They behaved splendidly, especially during those quiet moments (and there are many of them with HF) between raucous bits (that occasionally featured a saw as instrument and the banjo player managing double duty on the drums) when I found myself leaning forward to hear mr. ringle solo his way through a bridge that consisted of equal parts silence and singing. During the drawn out pauses between words, you could hear: glass jars clinking as they were hauled off in a gray tubs, a bottle cap removed, the cash register's ratchety cough before the till thudded open almost reluctantly (possibly a little grudgingly).

Five dollars went a long way at sbg last sunday evening.
